Rutlish Lodge is part of the Ancient and Honorable Fraternity of Free and Accepted Masons. It is also part of The Provincial Grand Lodge of Surrey and The United Grand Lodge of England.
Our Lodge was consecrated in October 1922, hence 2022 marked our Centenary.
Built in 1897, Sutton Masonic Hall is the home of Rutlish Lodge where we meet our Brethren at Lodge four times a year. It is a stone throw away from Sutton train station, and with numerable bus services to the area, and many a time members may do a car share.
Our meetings, which usually start late in the afternoon, are on the third Friday in October, the second Friday in December and the third Friday in February and April.
Rutlish Lodge is a repository of a great wealth of Masonic knowledge and ritual which has been passed down for over 100 years. Our Lodge practises the Universal ritual, which is only the case for a handful of Lodges in Surrey.
Rutlish prides itself on the quality, uniqueness and attention to detail which our ritual demands. Our meetings are not exclusive to just members of our Lodge, indeed members of other Lodges in Surrey, London or other parts of the UK do come and visit us, and from time to time take part in our activities.
We celebrate achievements such as 50 years in the Craft or members receiving accolades from the Province for service to the Craft.
Lodge meetings are followed by a formal dinner called the Festive Board. Festive Boards pride themselves in the quality of the food and much camaraderie, song and celebration of the meeting that has just taken place and raise money for charity. Members bring prizes or gifts which are raffled. All of this helps to build up long lasting friendships and bonds which is part of the glue that keeps the Lodge united.
